Sleeping with the spiders holds no fears for Cullybackey Cubs!

Ben McClintock and Jacob Hoy from 1st Cullybackey Cub Scout Pack experienced life '˜in the wild' last week - and they enjoyed every single minute!

They were the two lucky boys to be selected to represent Northern Ireland on a truly wild weekend to mark the start of the Cub Scout centenary year.

To kick off this historic year, Scouts and London Zoo worked together to throw a 100th birthday party. 40 lucky Cubs from across the UK spent the weekend there, coming face-to-face with the animals by day, and sleeping overnight in the B.U.G.S. exhibit.

Throughout the weekend, Ben and Jacob were interviewed for various television channels and programmes including BBC news televised on Sunday morning.

1st Cullybackey Group Scout Leader, Andy Millar said: “we are all extremely proud of what these two cubs have achieved this weekend to promote scouting.”

Ben and Jacob added: “We left Cullybackey at 5am on Saturday morning and by lunchtime, we had been interviewed for television and fed lots of animals. We slept overnight among spiders, crickets and loads of creepy crawlies but thankfully they were all in their enclosures!.”
