Special day at Teeshan

Raising pounds for hounds; Dogs Trust Ballymena is welcoming the public to a fun-filled Open Day on Saturday 7th September.

This year is a particularly special one as it is the rehoming centre’s 25th anniversary and with thousands raised over the past years events it promises to a memorable one for all members of the family.

From the Fun Dog Show to the Grand Raffle which this year has even more prizes and 25 lucky silver tickets containing extra treats, and of course the ever-popular Doggy Dash there will be something for everyone.

With eight classes in the dog show and rosettes given out from 1st – 6th place, the best tricks, most handsome and best senior dog all have a chance of walking away with a prize.

Registration is between 12noon – 1pm and judging starts at approximately 1.15pm. For the sweet toothed visitors there will be the chance to enjoy a slice of celebratory anniversary cake and a special doggy friendly version too.

There will also be the opportunity to meet the dogs currently searching for their new homes as the Rehoming Centre will remain open between 12 noon – 4pm. With a plethora of homeless hounds there will no doubt be lots of waggy tails greeting the visitors and potential adopters.

“I can’t believe we’ve reached the milestone that is our 25th Open Day. The support that we’ve received from the local community over the past 24 years has been amazing. From the thousands of families that have adopted dogs to those that have donated much need supplies and food, we are thankful to each and every person that helps make Dogs Trust Ballymena what it is. All of the funds raised on the day are invested back into the centre and help the team continue to care and rehome dogs of all shapes and sizes.”

Mary adds:“For those who are on the look-out for a new family member, there isn’t a more perfect opportunity to meet some of our residents who are keen to be given a new leash on life.”

Dogs Trust Ballymena will hold the event at the Teeshan based rehoming centre between 12pm and 4pm. Entrance to the Open Day is £1 per adult, whilst a donation of dog food will secure entrance for children, four-legged friends go FREE. Owners are reminded to clean up after their pooch!
