St. Brigid's support for Haiti relief

THE COMMUNITY of St. Brigid's P.S Ballymena recently showed their support for those suffering in Haiti by raising over £1,500 through their non-uniform day.

School charity co-ordinator, Mrs Maire O’Loan said: “The idea of a non-uniform day is something that appeals to the children but also allows our parents to contribute through donations.

“We have been astounded by the response of our school community and we trust that the money raised will go some way to supporting those in most need.”

Principal Mr Jim Brady said: “The presentation of the cheque to Trocaire comes in the middle of Catholic Schools’ Week and there can be no greater way of displaying all that is good about our catholics schoola than through the provision of support for those less fortunate than ourselves.”

The cheque was presented to Miss Siobhan Scullion of Trocaire during a special assembly that celebrated Catholic Schools’ week at the school.
