He issued his appeal to Translink as plans were announced by Minister Danny Kennedy for the implementation of such systems on the Metro Bus Network in Belfast which will include audio announcements and visual displays both on board Metro buses and at key bus stops.

“This will not only lead to an improved passenger experience for people with visual impairments but it will also have a range of benefits for other users such as the increasing number of tourists that are using our public transport system,” the Minister said.

Assemblyman Swann said: “This is a fantastic scheme...I urge the management at Translink to follow this forward thinking example of Metro Bus Network and expand this much needed service across the Province and especially in my constituency of North Antrim.”
