Swann welcomes Clay Pigeon Games victory

UUP MLA Robin Swann has welcomed the news that Ballymena will host the clay pigeon shooting events at the World Police and Fire Games, calling it “a major sporting victory and tourism accolade for the region”.

The North Antrim Assemblyman said he had been kept up to speed on the preparations for the Games as the Ulster Unionist Culture Arts and Leisure spokesperson and as a member of the Culture Arts and Leisure Committee at Stormont.

“As one of the major competitions in the sporting calendar any venue hosting an event will be showcased to the world and the news that Carnview Farms Shooting Complex is to host the clay pigeon shooting events is good for Carnview, good for Ballymena and good for North Antrim,” he said.

“I have written to the Chief Executive of Ballymena Borough Council to ask that Ballymena maximises the benefits to be gained from this showcase event.

“My congratulations to all those at Carnview who have worked hard to deliver this event and I look forward to the positive publicity this will bring to the Borough.

“That fact that this prestigious event is coming to the borough is further proof of North Antrim’s potential to attract the big names and fixtures in world sport,” said Assemblyman Swann.
