‘Talking Partners’ at Harryville Primary

A programme which gives children the basic life skill of ‘how to be a good communicator’ by helping them to develop listening skills and the ability to talk confidently, is being piloted by Harryville Primary School.

‘Talking Partners’ was initially developed in Bradford to support children with English as their second language but is now used to encourage more active talking and listening.

Harryville Primary was chosen to pilot the programme by the North Eastern Board and it is being rolled out in the school by trained staff over 10 weeks in sessions of 15-minutes, three times per week.

These sessions include news telling, re-telling familiar stories, drama and games.
