Thousands turn out for Ballymena torch run
DESPITE a torrent of rain, Ballymena people turned out in huge numbers to support the Olympic torch-runners as they passed through the town.
The route was thronged with thousands upon thousands of well-wishers from start to finish and they all entered the sporting spirit, giving the athletes their wholehearted support.
There was an especially proud moment for Ballee High pupil Tyler McIntyre when he ran past the bandstand at Broadway to the strains of ‘Chariots of Fire’ much to the delight of the crowd.
