Time is running out to nominate your local volunteer

Nominations are still open for the first Antrim and Newtownabbey Spirit of Volunteering Awards.

These awards are taking place to celebrate those volunteers throughout the Borough who help out at community events or in community buildings, organise events such as clean ups or simply help an elderly neighbour.

Volunteering can take many different forms and this is your opportunity to nominate your unsung hero before the closing date on Friday, July 1.

The award categories include Newcomer to Volunteering, Team Spirit, Personal Achievement, Community Impact and Lifetime Contribution.

If you know someone who gives selflessly to others or contributes significantly to the life of those in the borough without financial gain, then make sure you nominate them now.

The winners will be announced at a celebration evening in October.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott, said: “I would encourage everyone to nominate their local volunteer. Many activities in our Borough would not happen if it wasn’t for the contribution these volunteers make on a daily or weekly basis.

“By nominating someone you know they will receive the recognition they truly deserve.”

Nomination forms can be picked up at Antrim Civic Centre, Mossley Mill or by contacting Dawn Leonard or Wendy Donaldson on 9034 0060 or email [email protected] or [email protected]

Nominations will close on Friday, July 1 at 4pm.
