Two convicted of benefit fraud

TWO local people were convicted at Ballymena Magistrates' Court last week for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Jaqueline Dickson (40) of Staffia Drive, Ballymena failed to declare employment while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling 3,441. She was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of 61.

Sabrina Kenny (32) of Queen Street, Ballymena failed to declare employment while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling 2,624. She was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of 82.

Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 35 the total number of successful prosecution this year.
