Vandals carve anti-police graffiti into special school walls

Police are appealing for information after criminal damage was caused at Castle Tower Special School.

It is understood the incident occurred on Saturday, March 25, but details were only made public by the police on April 3.

Sometime between 4pm and 4:30pm on March 25, graffiti was carved into walls in a building beside the on-site nursery. It is understood some of the graffiti was anti-police in nature.

Appealing for information, a police spokesperson said: “On March 25 between 4pm and 4:30pm, substantial damage was caused to Castle Tower School on Fry’s Road, Ballymena. Police are requesting for anyone with information to contact 101, quoting reference 1004 25/03/17.”

Work began on a new-build at the school in November 2015.

The new Castle Tower school looks set to be the biggest special school in the United Kingdom, catering for the educational needs of 285 pupils in a state-of-the-art building set on a 13 acre site.
