Village bypass appeal

Local MLA Paul Frew has urged the DRD Minister to proceed with plans to build a bypass in Cullybackey.

“The Cullybackey bypass concept is certainly not a new one...but the scheme is at a primitive stage,” he said.

“What is clear is that the traffic problems on the main street of the village are only going to get worse if something is not done. I have asked the Minister to contemplate inserting a small section of roadway from the Ballymena Road near the junction of Station Road and Fenaghy Road to the Kilmakevit Road in the interim period meaning that that would create an alternative route for villagers to use when travelling from one end of the village to the other,” he said.
