Walk to remember at Portglenone Forest

DR Michael McBride, Chief Medical Officer with the DHSSPS, stepped out from Stormont last week to launch Cruse Bereavement Care's Memory Walks on June 12 which will be held at Portglenone Forest and other scenic settings across the province.

Dr McBride said he was delighted to launch the walks, which he believes will “support the valuable work of Cruse and provide an opportunity for people throughout Northern Ireland to remember their loved ones by taking part in one of the many Memory Walks”.

Hundreds of people across the province will step out in remembrance of a loved one on Saturday, June 12, enjoying some of Northern Ireland’s most scenic walking locations, whilst raising vital funds for the volunteer based charity and enjoying a fun day out.

Every pound that is raised will make a difference for bereaved people throughout Northern Ireland and will allow Cruse to continue to provide free one-to-one bereavement support services, expand the Children and Young People’s Services and continue to support bereaved parents and families through the Remember Our Child Project. One former client spoke of how Cruse had helped her: “My counselor was so in tune with me that my shattered self became whole again”.

The charity is now encouraging as many people as possible to join in at one of the sponsored walks so that its valuable work can continue.
