War memories project for Ballykeel

Ballykeel Together Development Association have been granted £10,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to run a project focusing on research and the First World War.

The project will begin with 4 sessions facilitated by David Gourley and will focus on the history of the war, the politics of the time and life stories.

Participants will also get the chance to learn how to research soldiers’ records and learn how to gather information from local people about family history connected to the Great War.

The conclusion of the project will include an exhibition day to display work gathered through the research and to showcase a memorial garden dedicated to the soldiers whose stories were uncovered throughout the project.
