Woodtown safety scheme

Proposed development works aimed at enhancing road safety at the notorious Woodtown Road junction outside Ballymena will start later in this financial year.

North Antrim UUP Assemblyman Robin Swann secured the assurance after writing to the Minister with his fingers on the purse strings, Danny Kennedy. In his response the Minister said that detailed design for the scheme - to increase the stagger distance at the busy junction to improve visibility and driver awareness of vehicle movements - is complete and acquisition of the necessary land is at an advanced stage.

“Subject to successful completion of land acquisition, I am hopeful this scheme will be prioritized for construction later this year,” the Minister told Mr Swann.
