Yorkies are coming to town

Ballymena is to be treated to the sound of military music, when the Band of the Yorkshire Regiment performs at the Braid Centre next month.

The Huddersfield based military band is comprised mainly of part-time Army Reservists, who are to make a whistle stop tour of Northern Ireland, including an appearance in the town on Tuesday, August 6.

The concert will be in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which exists to help soldiers, ex-soldiers and their families in times of need.

The Band, under the baton of Director of Music, Captain Gary Clegg, will be first undergoing a number of arduous military tests here in the Province to re-qualify them as soldiers.

Once completed, the Band will perform a number of engagements.

“The Band is very much looking forward to its tour of Northern Ireland,” said Capt Clegg. Tickets for the Ballymena performance can be purchased from the Braid Centre Box Office by calling 02825 635900.

Concessions are available for pensioners and children.
