As life under lockdown continues to keep us indoors, people are finding new ways to amuse themselves

Many people are keeping entertained online by sharing their favourite songs on social media - from the Instagram 30 Day Song Challenge to sharing the number one song when they were born, there’s no shortage of viral trends to get involved with.

The Quarantine Theme Song, which asks you to share the song that was number one on your 12th birthday, is the latest trend to catch on.

Here’s what you need to know - and how to get involved.

What is the Quarantine Theme Song challenge?

Circulating on Twitter is an image that states: “Whatever song was number 1 on your 12th birthday is your quarantine theme song.”

The rules are therefore simple - all you need to do is post whatever song was number one in the charts at the time of your 12th birthday and post it to Twitter with the hashtag #QuarantineThemeSong.

How do I find out my song?

To find out your quarantine theme song, you can head to This Day In Music, where you can enter the day, month and year of your 12th birthday.

The website will then show you the number one at that time, not just in the UK, but in other countries as well, including Australia, Germany, Canada and more.
