What you need to know about Topshop, Dorothy Perkins or Wallis gift cards after Arcadia’s collapse

Retail group Arcadia collapsed into administration on Monday (30 Nov), with 13,000 jobs across its brands - including Topshop and Miss Selfridge - now at risk.

Shoppers who have gift cards for any of the group’s stores may be dismayed to discover that the company is no longer accepting gift cards as a single payment method.

Can I still use my gift card?

Customers will still be able to use any gift cards they have, but they will only be applicable on up to 50 per cent of the total spend.

The remaining balance must then be covered by cash or card.

The company’s administrators, Deloitte, also said that gift cards are no longer being sold at any of Arcadia's branches.

Collapse of Arcadia

Arcadia - which has 444 stores in the UK and 22 overseas - entered into administration on Monday evening (30 Nov).

Administration is a legal process that protects a limited company or partnership by order of the Court.

Once the process has started, no legal action can then be taken against the business or any assets removed without the approval of the Court or that of the insolvency practitioner who has been appointed as Administrator to oversee the business.

Addressing Arcadia’s collapse into administration, chief executive, Ian Grabiner said, "This is an incredibly sad day for all of our colleagues as well as our suppliers and our many other stakeholders.

"The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic including the forced closure of our stores for prolonged periods has severely impacted on trading across all of our brands.”
