3-a- side victories for the Drifters and Buffs

The Ballymena, Harryville & District Darts League season saw the annual 3 a sides competition played on Friday night.

Well done to all who took part, congratulations to 1st Division winners Geoff Wylie, John Elder and Geoffrey Matthews. Also, congratulations to 2nd Division winners Arthur Kenny, Paul McDonald and Rodney McCartney.

RESULTS

1st Division

51 players turned out in 17 teams for this competition. One preliminary match was played with P Coyles, L McKeegan and J McGarry defeating A Walker, L Young and J Cree. In the last 16, results were as follows G Wylie, J Elder & G Matthews defeated I Rainey, D Rainey & D Thompson. A Service, D Logan & D Campbell defeated P Rock, R Gilchrist & D McConaghie. D McCrory, R Dunlop & A Martin defeated W Wright, J Stewart & G Gilmore. C Greer, J Greer & P Stewart defeated J Mooney, N Craig & B Gilmore. R Rainey, A Rainey & A Rouke defeated S McClelland, H Balmer & L Balmer. I Millar, W McBurney & D Calderwood defeated G McIlveen, S McIlroy & A Bamford. C Reid, D Gault & S Eaton defeated D Neill, F McDowell & R Thompson. P Coyles, L McKeegan & J McGarry defeated R Beggs, J Kennedy & G Mills. Last 8: G Wylie, J Elder & G Matthews defeated P Coyles, L McKeegan & J McGarry. D McCrory, R Dunlop & A Martin defeated A Service, D Logan & D Campbell. R Rainey, A Rainey & A Rouke defeated C Greer, J Greer & P Stewart. I Millar, W McBurney & D Calderwood defeated C Reid, D Gault & S Eaton. Semi Finals: G Wylie, J Elder & G Matthews BEAT D McCrory, R Dunlop & A Martin. R Rainey, A Rainey & A Rouke BEAT I Millar, W McBurney & D Calderwood. The final was an entertaining affair, full of high scores and missed doubles. Well done G Wylie, J Elder and G Matthews who claimed a 3-1 victory.

2nd DIVISION

Division 2 saw 63 players turn up, with the competition split into 4 boards. Board 1 witnessed Pattons continue to show their form with M Gage, J Finlay and T McKnight defeating N Marshall, D McFall and D Reid. Board 2 saw league leaders Ballee 1 progress with S Hillis, C McCaughern and L McDowell beating J Carson, J Balmer and S McDowell. Board 3 saw another Pattons team progress with D Steele, B Logan and C McDonald defeat A Penny, H Dunlop and D Armstrong. Board 4 had A Kenny, P McDonald and R McCartney defeat their Buffs team mates of I Niklas, J Campbell and S Gilmore. The semi finals saw the Pattons teams avoid each other, but unfortunately for them, neither team made the final. Semi final 1 saw Ballees’ S Hillis, C McCaughern and L McDowell win 2-1 over M Gage, J Finlay and T McKnight. Semi final 2 saw Buffs Clubs’ A Kenny, P McDonald and R McCartney win 2-0 over D Steele, B Logan and C McDonald. The final was a tense and nervy match, with neither side able to gain any rhythm or momentum. The only difference between the sides was the finishing. Paul McDonald showed his experience to hit both doubles in their 2-0 win.
