Academy hockey girls win Schools’ Plate

The Galgorm Road girls won the Senior Schools Plate when they beat Rainey Endowed 2-0 in the final at Antrim Forum.

Zara Thompson was the star of the show, scoring both her teams goals in a very well contested final.

Both goals came from open play, the second one a really worked move which came after Emma Kernohan drew the Rainey keeper before passing across the circle to give Zara Thompson the chance to fire it to the net.

In a very good team performance there was great displays from keeper Helen McKelvey and Gail Adams who battled through injury to star in the middle of the pitch,while Zara Thompson showed great composure for her two goals.
