Ahoghill loft returns best Mid-Antrim result

The second cross channel race in a week was flown last Saturday from Bude, liberation was delayed due to mist and fog.

Liberation was at the later time of 1.45pm and it proved to be quite a hard task for the longer flying clubs. The best bird in the local area was timed by Paddy McManus in Ahoghill, his yearling Blue hen was recorded at 7.53pm, followed by the Talbenny winners T & G Balmer. Young McManus & Sons take 1st Club, 1st Comb & Sect and 19th Open NIPA with 8,754 birds competing.

The Yearling Nat for Cocks & Hens was flown last weekend from Rosscarbery in County Cork, liberation was at 11.00am in a helping SW wind. Mid Antrim lofts performed well with the best birds in each race topping the Combine & Section. Mr & Mrs Sempey (Ballymena & Dist) won the 1st Cocks on velocity 1619 finishing 10th Open NIPA while J & N Simpson (Broughshane & Dist) won 1st Hens on velocity 1585 finishing 50th Open NIPA. The Sempey and Simpson lofts will feature in the Champions League semi-final from Truro.
