Amateurs bid for world ranking points at Galgorm

IRELAND’S top amateurs will take on the challenge of Galgorm Castle next Monday and Tuesday, August 20-21, in a bid to qualify for Men’s World Amateur Golf Ranking Points and help them on their way to be world number one.

In doing so, they could be following in the footsteps of new USPGA champion Rory McIlroy who during his amateur days was the number one amateur in the world.

The North of Ireland Strokeplay will be played over 72 holes with all the competitors playing 36 holes on Monday 20th August.

The leading 40 players and ties will qualify for the final 36 holes on Tuesday 21st August.

With a stellar field shaping up including 2011 winner Ciaran Molloy (Ardee) the event proves to be an exciting clash of the top amateurs.

Galgorm officials encourage everyone to come and watch the potential stars of the future over the 2 days and support them on their way.

Tee times are from 8–9.30am off both tee boxes. The afternoon sessions are teeing off from 1–2.30pm.

After all players have completed their 36 holes the top 40 players and ties will make the cut to play on Tuesday starting at 8.00am.
