Antrim’s Five mile road race this Friday night

Time is running out for local people to enter this weeken’d Antrim’s five mile road race.

Starting and finishing at Antrim Stadium on the Lough Road, the Active Antrim Road Race kicks off at 7pm on this Friday.

An officially measured five mile route with Championship timing, the event is great for both recreational and competitive runners.

For the younger runners, or the young at heart, a 1 mile fun run will also take place immediately before the main event.

Anna Boyle, Sport & Physical Activity Development Manager says: “This is a great event for running enthusiasts of all abilities and takes in the beautiful Antrim Castle Gardens and some great scenery around Rea’s Wood and Lough Shore Park.

“As the course is officially measured and features digital timing, it’s a great way to set your pace for a longer 10k or half marathon.”

Prizes include1st Male and Female Open, 1st Male and Female Veteran (over 35yrs) and 1st Boy and Girl fun run (U18yrs).

All entrants will receive a free Active Antrim Gift.

Event details: 1 mile Fun Run (age 8yrs+) at 7pm - Cost: £2 Athletics NI affiliated members; £4 non affiliated members

5 mile Road Race (age 18yrs+) at 7.30pm - Cost: £10 Athletics NI affiliated members; £12 non affiliated members
