On a lovely sunny morning, Head Coach Gary Donald organised a series of challenges which teams of Bears had to complete.

The children really got into the spirit of the event and there was a healthy degree of competition, however as always it was clear that everyone was having fun and enjoying themselves in the
sunshine.

With the games completed it was into the Clubhouse for sandwiches, buns and cakes provided by parents and the Co-op, Broughshane Street.

Outgoing chairman Tom Wiggins said a few words on behalf of Ballymena RFC.

Tom praised the remarkable efforts of not only Gary but Gary’s wife Jen and their three children who put in so much effort throughout the year which has changed the lives of so many children and young adults.

Tom’s words were echoed by Eamon, one of the Bears’ parents who could not speak highly enough of the Donald family. Eamon presented Gary with a thank you card and a gift voucher on behalf of all the parents.

Gary concluded the day with a few words of thanks. Whilst he thanked coaches, parents and helpers his main thanks were reserved for the Bears “whose spirit of fun has helped light up the lives of everyone at Eaton Park”.

This has been another tremendous year for the Bears which included hosting a blitz at Eaton Park, attending a ‘festival’ in Letterkenny and travelling to England to take part in an international tournament.

The Bears have steadily grown and have been supported by a number of local businesses including Clarke Facades, Portglenone and BlackCarrot merchandising.

Whilst the season has now concluded for the summer everyone is looking forward to next season.
