BILLY KERR SPORTIVE IS READY TO ROLL

Online Registration is now open for the Billy Kerr Cycling Sportive, which will take place on Saturday.

Organisers extend a warm invitation to all both new and seasoned cyclists to take part in the event.

This event is being organised for the second time to commemorate the legendary cycling career of Billy Kerr who sadly passed away in 2012.

Billy was a member of Ballymena Road Club and he represented Northern Ireland at two Commonwealth Games and Ireland in the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow.

His talent shot the name of Ballymena Road Club to the forefront of amateur cycling after back-to-back successes in the prestigious Tour of the North race in 1978 and 1979.

Immediately after his second victory he won the International Stage Race in England. He then went on to win the Ras Tailteann, the Tour of Ireland, Northern Ireland and All Ireland Road 
Race Championships.

The chosen charity for this event is Cancer Fund for Children. They are the leading local charity that provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people affected by cancer and their families.

Ballymena Road Club plan to make a donation to this charity from the entry monies collected for the sportive.

The sportive will comprise of three distances to suit all types of cyclists. All routes will take in the spectacular scenery around the North Antrim Coast.

Route distances are 67km, 115km and 150km

All participants will receive a free goody bag courtesy of our sponsors Chain Reaction Cycles and also a finisher’s medal.

Each goody bag will comprise of a drinks bottle, multi-tool, tube and buff.

Feed stations will be located around the routes and refreshments will be available at the end of the event.

The sportive starts between 8am and 9am with registration from 7:30am. Cost is only £25.
