Charity success for Braid

BRAID ABC hosted their annual charity fight night last Friday night, which proved to be a big hit in more ways than one.

Additional seating had to be laid out due to the increased numbers of supporters that came out to support the club venture.

Over 300 people packed out the boxing club gymnasium, from various community youth groups and church representatives.

This year the decision was taken to sponsor the Big Bus cancer-screening unit which will be along at the club on May 6 to facilitate the local community.

The charity fundraiser was an excellent opportunity for the public to view what the boxing club has to offer in terms of sporting excellence, discipline and character building and it proved an eye-opener for the community representatives in attendance.

The fundraiser showcased many of the mini boxers, kids aged between 8-11 year olds, there were 11 bouts featuring Braid boxers and they all took part in skills bouts against a select Co Antrim team of visiting boxers.

It has set the scene for our annual club fundraising show, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 25, at Leighinmohr Hotel, Ballymena.
