SLIDESHOW: All Saints ABC fight night
Steven Donnelly continued his rich vein of form to put the icing on the cake of a marvellous All Saints Boxing Club fight night at the weekend.
The Irish welterweight champion once again got the better of John Joe Joyce in the headline bout of the evening.
A bumper crowd enjoyed another fantastic night of amateur boxing at the Leighinmohr House Hotel.
Donnelly’s victory - after a split decision - helped All Saints to a 6-4 win over the hugely-respected St Michael’s Athy club in a 10-contest bonanza.
It was another useful workout for Donnelly, who heads away to Poland this week with the Irish team.
That competition in eastern Europe will again form an important part of his preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
Elsewhere on the bill, there was an opportunity for some of the younger members who have come off the All Saints ‘production line’ to show their skills and there were impressive performances from Emeka Onwuka, Oisin Doherty and Tyler McMullan among others.
