Cambridge House face cup replay today

CAMBRIDGE House and Antrim Grammar will make a fourth attempt today (Friday) to settle their Northern Bank Schools' Trophy quarter-final (2.30pm).

The sides meet at Galgorm Road after attempts to play their replay last Saturday and Wednesday of this week fell foul of the weather.

A week earlier, the sides had drawn 10-10 in Antrim in the first instalment.

Having been encamped in the Antrim '22' for 95 per cent of the first half, how the Ballymena boys found themselves trailing 7-5 at the interval can be attributed to endless handling errors in open play and a breakaway try under the posts from the Antrim flanker.

Cambridge House replied with an individual try from out-half McDowell.

The entire match was a series of mishandling and knock-ons from Cambridge House which allowed Antrim territory in the second half.

They used the kicking tactic to get them out of their own half and as Cambridge continually dropped the ball or failed to be decisive in clearing this gave a penalty opportunity which Antrim converted to lead 10-5.

The final 20 minutes were spent in the Antrim '22' with the outstanding Adrian Hamilton surging over to even up the scores in the 50th minute, but with three missed kicks and countless wasted open positions, gained from a dominant scrum where Harkness and Payne excelled, Cambridge House let Antrim off the hook and the chance to play another day.
