Cambridge House take out frustrations on Antrim

AFTER two narrow and frustrating home losses, Cambridge House racked up a seven try 45-0 victory over Antrim Grammar on Saturday.

With a helping breeze in the first period CH spent the thirty minutes in the opposition’s half, scoring five tries.

Mark Payne started the scoring on five minutes with a searing run and followed that a few minutes later with another piercing burst that took him over the line. On fifteen minutes full-back Jordan Robinson scored a solo try from the half way line.

The final two tries in the first half were scored by second row Andrew Hood, the first was a combination of ball stealing and forward pressure, the second came from a line out maul which CH took from outside the twenty two for a pushover try. Timmy Small converted four kicks and CH led 33-0 at half-time.

With the wind in their favour Antrim would have hoped for second half territory to bring them some points, but in the first minute Josh Whann finished off an entertaining back row move by jinking by three defenders to score.

The rest of the half was spent mainly in midfield with Antrim kicking downfield to alleviate pressure, and having their share of possession yet never threatening to score.

CH had the final say with the last play of the match with Kris Steele completing another swift back row move. Timmy Small converted for the final score.

As well as the point scorers performances there was a lot of close play ball winning by forwards Andrew Cundell and Cory Miller.

Remarkably, both the Second XV and Medallion fixtures between the respective schools also ended in 45-0 wins for Cambridge House!
