Champions continue to look strong in pool league

Minnesota Inbetweeners laid down another marker in their attempt to retain their Ballymena Towers Pool League title last week.

The Cullybackey Road side recorded an impressive 5-1 win on their visit to firmer champions Michelin Masters.

Inbetweeners got off to the perfect start with a come from behind win for Mark Higgins when he defeated David Armstrong. The next two games were both 2-0 victories for the Inbetweeners with wins from Ryan Logan and Dessie Cooper who beat Jimmy Knowles and Rick McMaster. Alan Armstrong then pulled a game back for Michelin with a win in straight frames over Glenn Howard but Gareth Rowe then put the Inbetweeners 4-1 up in the match with a 2-0 win over Chris Penney which included an 8ball clearance. In the final game Phil Houston defeated Brian Hanna 2-0. POM - Gareth Rowe.

Fairhill Rockets 2, Coach Bar 4: Malcolm Graffin had a come from behind win in the first game over Gary Allen. Aidy Rouke increased the lead for the Coach with a 2-0 win over Barry Kernohan. David Carlisle made the match score 3-0 for the Coach with a win in straight frames over Lauren McLoughlin. Linzi McClelland pulled a game back for the Fairhill with a 2-0 win over David Gillespie . In the next game Nigel McMaster had a win in straight frames for the Fairhill over Chris Gordon. In the final game Robert Artt sealed the match win for the Coach with a 2-0 win over Ian Dewar. Social Club 0, Fairhill Hustlers 6: An impressive Hustlers win was started by Glenn Mairs and Justin Kilpatrick who had wins in straight frames over Marc McMullan and Eddie Fleck. In the third game Albert McBride won the first frame for the Social Club but Rab Graham fought back to win the game 2-1. The next two games were both 2-0 victories for the Hustlers and the winners were Sean Brannigan and Richard Campbell who defeated Ross Hill and Brian Boyd . In the final game George McCullough had a 2-1 win over May Barr. POM - May Barr.

Towers Tavern 6, Moat B 0: Towers started off with a trio of 2-0 wins for Drew Sloan, K.D. Crabbe and Dean Greer who defeated Dean Robinson, Steven Magill and Adele Rutherford. Daniel Magill gave Moat some hope in the next game when he won the first frame but Shane Moody fought back to win 2-1 for Towers. In the final two games the Towers secured a 6-0 victory with James Millar and David Millar beating William Wilson and Neil Weir. POM - David Millar.

Moat A 2, Connolly’s 4: Ian Boal got Connolly’s off to a great start with a 2-1 win over Barry Weir. In the next game Pat McAnally had a come from behind 2-1 win over Jason McKay. Alan Davidson put Connolly’s further ahead with a 2-1 win over David Nicholl. In the fourth game Alan Rainey started a fight back for the Moat with a 2-1 win over Dee Irwin. Darren Campbell made the match score 3-2 with a win over Ryan Foster. In the final game Gary Clarke had a 2-1 win over Michael Thompson.
