Cheltenham success for local trainer

CULLYBACKEY trainer Ian Ferguson enjoyed success at last week’s Cheltenham Festival.

The Ferguson-trained Zemsky was ridden to victory by Galway jockey Derek O’Connor in Friday’s Foxhunter Chase – traditionally the highlight of the week for amateur riders, although their thunder was stolen somewhat by amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen’s Gold Cup success on Long Run

Zemsky had felt the benefit of training among the walls, ditches and wire of the County Antrim countryside, favoured in local hunting circles, prompting Ferguson to laugh: “These fences here (Cheltenham) were easy for him!”
