Fit N Running athletes in fine form for new season

FIt N Running athletes had a fine weekend with 6 runners in action in 3 events on Saturday.

The Ballymena club’s members finished well up the field in each of their respective events as they continued their preparations for the forthcoming cross country season.

ECOS PARKRUN

Mark McKinstry continued his impressive winning streak when he claimed his 4th successive victory at the Ecos in a personal best time of 17 mins 38secs.

Following Mark home was 15 year old Connor McQuillan who had claimed first place at Ecos the previous week. It was a fine weekend for the gifted junior as he was selected for the North Belfast Harriers senior men’s team which will compete at next weekends Northern Ireland road relay championships.

Damian McKeown was well placed in 3rd before going 200 metres off course at an unmarshalled junction. Despite losing an estimated 45 secs he managed to finish 5th in a PB time of 19mins 24 secs. Chris McQuillan finished just outside his best in 23 mins 40secs.

WATERWORKS PARKRUN

James and Paula Wallace were in action in Belfast at the Waterworks.

James showed good pre season form with a 5th place finish in 18mins 52 secs.

Paula finished in 23mins 52secs.

CAUSEWAY COAST 10K

Conor Sheils continued to impress in his debut season when he claimed 5th place at the tough off road Causeway 10k. Connor fought hard to secure 4th place with a blistering last 800 metres to cross the line in 45mins 44secs.
