Fit N Running athletes reaping their rewards

The well organised club combine ultra modern training methods and old school principles of dedication and hard work to bring the best out of all its members from juniors and beginners through to its senior and masters runners.

CASTLEWARD

Mark McKinstry continues to reap rich rewards since joining the local club and produced another race winning performance on Saturday.

Going in the Castle Ward Half marathon event on Saturday Mark was in outstanding form as he produced a gun to tape victory.

In the off road event which attracted a field of 177 runners Mark made his intentions clear from the start by going straight to the front and remaining there throughout to cross the winning line in 1hour 22mins 34secs. Ryan Moore was a further 4mins 30secs back in 2nd place.

TITANIC MILE

Two of the club’s gifted junior athletes were in action last Sunday at the Titanic 1mile road race.

Rebecca Wallace continues to impress when she finished 2nd in the under 12 girls race in 5mins 52secs. James McKeown was also in action and finished in 5mins 51 secs in the U 13 boys race.

BAY ROAD 10K

James and Paula Wallace continued their fantastic early season form on the road with another big personal best performance apiece at the Northern Ireland 5k road race championships.

Paula has been relentless with big improvements and over a fast course she eclipsed her old time by 1min 3 secs to claim 15th place in 21mins 40secs.

James carried on his run of progression with another huge personal best clipping an impressive 1min 9secs of his previous best to claim 3rd in his age category and 22nd place overall. James crossed the line in 17mins 38secs.
