Fit N Running relay members excel in Belfast Marathon

Fit N Running’s mixed A team secured a fine victory at the Belfast city marathon relay event on Bank holiday Monday.

The relatively new club now in it’s 5th year fielded a team containing 3 international athletes. Chris Moren, Pauline Thom, Mark McKinstry, Vernon Shiels and Gregory Walsh formed a formidable line up and indeed took control of the race from the off.

They remained in pole throughout as they swept their way to victory at the finish line at the Ozone Centre on the Ormeau Embankment in a time of 2hrs 34mins

The Ballymena club had two other teams in action with Kevin Adams, Diane Lyttle, Liam Gribben, James Anderson and Wendy Clarke making up the B team who did well breaking the 4 hour barrier with a time of 3hrs 59mins.

The C team of Tracey Adams, Claire McKay, Alison Gribben, Stephen Scullion and Catherine O Melvena ran a time of 4hrs 15mins

Also in action were Kim Close who represented a team of work colleagues and Catherine Stewart ran for a team made up of family members.

WEEKLY TRAINING

Fit N Running weekly sessions and times are as follows: Monday, 6.15pm - Recreational Run; Tuesday, 6.15pm - Advanced Run; Wednesday, 6.15pm - Conditioning Circuit. There is also an adfitional session on Saturday morning for the advanced group.

All these sessions are from the Michelin Athletic Club on the Woodside Road.
