Carniny Youth extend McDonald’s sponsorship

Carniny Youth FC’s preparations for the new season have received a welcome and significant boost - before a ball is kicked in anger.

The Ballymena-based club is once again delighted to have the commitment of McDonald’s Restaurant, Ballymena as one of the club’s main sponsors.

McDonald’s have been a long time supporter of the club and Billy O’Flaherty recently met with new Franchise manger Kade O’Reilly to discuss the local company’s continued sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Four teams from Carniny Youth are making their final preparations for this years Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup Tournament

Along with the Milk Cup, which takes place around the same time, The Foyle Cup is one of Ireland and indeed Europe’s premier youth tournaments.

This year event starts on Monday 20th July with matches played all through the week up to the finals on Saturday.

This years competition sees teams from Norwich City, Celtic, Motherwell, Hearts and Partick Thistle amongst the entries.

Carniny Youth have a long association with the North West tournament.

In their first year in the competition back in 2007 took a team that included Manchester Utd player, Paddy McNair who was part of the squad at that time.

All Foyle Cup matches are played around Derry and the surrounding area, including Letterkenny and Strabane.

Final matches are played in The Brandywell Stadium, although, from time to time, it may vary.

The Under17s (98s) will start in their group against Rampo Valley from the USA, Culmore FC from the North West and Kildrum before reaching the knockout stages.

The Under13s (01s) will also play in a group four including Lifford Celtic, Mid Ulster YL and Killen Rangers.

The U11s (04s) will be hoping to achieve the same success they had last year in the tournament when they finished in the top five teams with over 50teams in their age group.

They will play in a six team group including Ballymoney Utd YA, Maiden City, Shankill Youth, Don Boscos and Killea FC.

The Under 10s (05s) are looking forward for their first taste of the tournament and will play against Clooney, Dergview, Buncrana Hearts, Cockhill Celtic and Aileach Colts.
