Carniny Youth FC round-up: Andrew ‘extra’ special in ‘derby’ win

IT was a full house last Saturday for all four of Carniny Youth’s full sided teams when they all racked up wins against their respective opponents.

The highlight of the weekend was the Under 14s win which knocked Ballymena Utd YA out of the Northern Ireland Boys FA Cup with an extra time winner from Andrew Adams in an exciting match watched by a large local crowd at Ballykeel.

The Under 11s also enjoyed NIBFA Cup joy when they comfortably dispatched Lough-gall Youth with the help of a hat-trick from birthday boy, Lee Lynn, progressing to the quarter finals as a result.

There was no stopping the Under13s when they put nine past Irish League academy side, Cliftonville without reply, with a double brace from Seaan Elliott and a Jordan Stewart hat trick.

The Under 12 returned to league action with a win over Hillsborough Boys which keeps them in pole position in their league.

The U9s and two U10 teams were in action up in the North West Youth league with the two U10 teams playing each other in a good spirited match.

FDC BEATS RAIN

The club’s IFA approved Football Development Centre got underway for their winter/spring session on the 3G pitch at Ballymena Showgrounds as a result of the inclement weather having to be switched at the last minute.

A large crowd of children took part in drizzly conditions which was enjoyed by all taking part.

All at the FDC wish Davy Boyd a speedy recovery from illness and hope to see him back at the centre soon.

TEATIME LEAGUE

The IFA approved Games Development Centre ‘Teatime League’ organised by the Carniny club saw the second of eight sessions take place on the 3G surface at Ballymena Showgrounds with Chimney Corner, Ballymena United Youth Academy, Ballymoney United Youth as well as the host club take part in friendly competition for the under nine years age group.

A lot of talent was on show from the competing children who should be praised for their endeavour and behaviour on the night and are a credit to their respective clubs.

Teatime League continues next week and for the following five Friday evenings taking the project up to the commencement of the Ballymena Mini Soccer League, which is another approved IFA Games Development Centre.

Carniny wish to thank all the competing clubs for taking part as well as local IFA Development Officer Wes Gregg for his help and support.
