Carniny Youth members eager for season start

CARNINY Youth preparations for the new season are still continuing with many of club's eight teams playing friendly matches all around the Province.

The under 10s who will play in the South Belfast Youth League, recently battled out a high scoring draw with Carrick side Barn Utd.

The under 11s entertained Magherafelt Sky Blues at the Showgrounds last Saturday, as did the under 12s with both recording comfortable victories. The under 13s were also in action against Magherafelt but lost out to their fellow National League competitors.

The under 14s are having a good pre season winning all their three matches so far with the latest win against Greenisland boys last Saturday. The under 15s are also going well winning all three of their matches the latest one again also against Greenisland. The under 16s are preparing well having took in five games so far, having won all but one with the latest win against Doyle FC last Saturday.

With the new season fast approaching the under 14s and 15s will see action first on Wed 1st September, both at home and both in the National Youth League.

The remaining teams in the National Youth league, the under 12s, 13s and 16s will start their league campaigns on Saturday 4th where all matches will be played on a football festival day at Mallusk Playing Fields. The younger teams of the under 10s and 11s will see their season start on Saturday 4th September in the South Belfast Youth league.

* Former Carniny Youth, Greenisland Boys and Northern Ireland Junior International, Josh Carson is obviously impressing at Championship side, Ipswich Town when he was recently selected for the first team squad.

Josh who is a regular in the reserve team has now a number in the first team squad and was selected for the ‘Tractor Boys’ match in the League Cup against Exeter City which they won 3-2 after extra time.
