Carniny Youth under-14s reach semi-final of Plate

There was cup joy for Carniny Youth U14s as they progressed to the semi finals of the NIBFA National League Plate at the weekend.

The Under 13s recorded back to back wins when despite playing with ten men for most of the second half against Abbey Villa they came away withal three points in a seven goal thriller.

In the Lisburn League the U11s exited their league cup against Carrick whilst the U12 ‘Youth’ team lost out to Loughgall. In the North West league The U9s and 10s took on two Ballymoney teams.

UNDER-9

Carniny Youth 0, Ballymoney United 2: Carniny’s third match in the NWDCYL league cup ended in defeat thanks to two second half goals.

Carniny: C King, C Fletcher, C McDonald, B Wylie, A Wharry, C Gregg, R Burnett, Z Burnett.

UNDER-10

Result: Carniny Youth 4, Ballymoney Colts 1.

UNDER-11

Carniny Youth 1, Carrick Rangers 5: Carniny were three goals down in this Lisburn Youth League Cup quarter-final before Cameron Moody gave them hope with a goal before half-time. However, two goals in the second half put the game beyond Carniny’s reach.

UNDER-12

Result: Carniny Youth 1, Loughgall 4.

UNDER-13

Carniny Youth 4, Abbey Villa 3: Carniny made it back-to-back league wins with victory in a thrilling game in Dundonald.

In a match where the lead changed hands several times and where Carniny were reduced to 10 men, the Reds claimed victory thanks to goals from Gregg (2), Knowles and Clarke.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 2, Maiden City 0: Carniny started brightly and a great cross from Ben Groocock was controlled well by Jake White who then finished well into the roof of the net to make it 1-0 Carniny after just five minutes. Groocock then turned provider again when he put into Lee Lynn’s path and he finished coolly past the advancing keeper to make it 2-0.

It was the perfect boost for the under-14s before they headed off on a trip to Sunderland this weekend where they will play local opposition and see the Sunderland v Leicester game.
