Davidson remains in Ferguson’s United plans

The midfielder, who recently signed a new one-year contract, was given a suspended six-month prison sentence last week after admitting charges of dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily injury by driving without due care and attention, relating to an incident in Kilkeel last October.

Ferguson also said that the loss of Davidson’s driving licence for a year will not affect the player’s ability to attend training.

“Alan is based in Belfast now and we have enough players coming from that direction who can help him out in terms of getting to and from training.

“I will obviously be speaking to him about what has happened and he will be under no illusions about what could happen if he steps out of line again.

“Alan has plenty of ability and he really knuckled down last season and did what we asked of him, so he will now have to focus on his football in the new season,” added Ferguson, who reports no further transfer activity in or out of the club.

* United’s AGM will take place in the Des Allen Suite at the Showgrounds on June 18 at 7.30pm. Season tickets are also currently on sale with the ‘early purchase’ initiative in place until the end of June.
