‘Derby’ clashes in store for United Academy teams

WITH the fixtures published for next season’s National Youth Leagues, the United Academy sides have some exciting ties to look forward to.

United under 15s open up with a mouthwatering derby at home to neighbours Carniny, whilst the under 14’s also have a derby to look forward to on 14th October against a strong North End side.

The under 13’s will travel far and wide for their fixtures but have a number of home games to start off their campaign.

Competing against some of the province’s strongest sides the Braid boys have nothing to fear as they showed against various National League sides last season.

Due to unprecedented interest, helped to a certain extent by the senior club’s recent coaching week, the under 13’s (boys born in 2000) will be having another trials night on Thursday 19th July at Ballee playing fields as the club is considering entering two sides at this age group next season.

Why not send your son along to the trials, all past and present players will be made especially welcome.

The Academy golf day at Galgorm Castle proved a great success last Friday with tee times booked up throughout the afternoon.

Congratultions to Davy Montgomery with 47 points on the day, a deserved winner.

The Darren Clarke signed sweater, donated to the Academy by the Open champion, was won by Davy Murray and the Academy committee would like to thank all those individuals and sponsors who supported the club making it a successful day.

For all his hard work in organising the golf, thanks to club secretary Phillp Galloway and best wishes for a speedy recovery to “Hunga” from his recent arm injury.
