Draw for under-14s bring competitive season to close for Carniny Youth FC

Carniny Youth U14s wrapped up the season for the club's youth teams last Saturday with a 3-3 draw with Carnmoney FDC in the NIBFA Subway National League.

Elsewhere, the club were delighted to put several teams into the Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League which is now in its 15th year.

Carniny U9 played a series of games against Northend, Ballymena, Whitehead and Antrim Rovers on Saturday morning on the 2g pitch at the showgrounds.

Carniny Amateurs produced a series of encouraging performances, remaining undefeated in their 5 games with Callum McDonald in goals producing a string of fine saves, supported well by his defence of Reuben Burnett, Daniel Kane and Jack Campbell. Conor Scullion, Conor O’Loan and Grace Campbell provided the cutting edge in attack.

The Carniny Youth team also played 5 games looking unstoppable in two of them with goals from Zack McAtamney, Callum Fletcher and Adam Wharry. Matthew Turtle Harry Lamont and Charly Gregg put in good performances throughout the morning but ultimately our boys were undone by lapses in concentration in our other three fixtures.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 3, Carnmoney FDC 3: This was the last league game for Carniny U14s and they were determined to put on a performance to end the season on a high.

However all didn’t go to plan in the first half and bhy the interval, Carniny trailed 3-0.

The second half Carniny fought back, hard in the tackle and keeping possession of the ball. They got their deserved first goal from a Lynn free kick that the keeper just could deal with the pace of the ball to make it 3-1.

This goal gave Carniny hope and it wasn’t long before it was 3-2. Hunter raced through two defenders and hit an unstoppable shot with the outside of the boot into the top corner off the post.

Carniny got something out of the game with a great goal by Magee. A nice one two with Hunter and Magee unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner to make it 3-3.
