Excellent Rosebowl victory for Waveney Youth over Loughside

WAVENEY Youth travelled to the Valley to play Loughside in the Rose Bowl Cup on Saturday and ran out 4-1 winners.

In a tight opening to the game neither side created clear cut chances.

Waveney opened the scoring with their first real chance when Nico Dunlop ran onto a through ball from David Watt to slot home.

Loughside missed an opportunity to draw level when they failed to convert a penalty.

Camryn Millar was denied by a good save by the Loughside keeper and just before half time Loughside got back on level terms.

The opening to the second half was a scrappy affair but Waveney went ahead again when after a quick break Blair Purdy laid the ball off for Camryn Millar to fire home.

Keeper Jordan Barrow kept Waveney in the lead when tipped a shot onto the post.

Waveney made it 3-1 from a great solo run from Joel Godfrey who fired in off the post.

Loughside kept pushing forward but found themselves thwarted time and again by Michael Kernohan who was having a good game just sitting infront of the Waveney defence.

Waveney made it 4-1 through Nico Dunlop when he played a one two with Robbie Perkins at the edge of the post after good work from Jamie Timms.
