JUNIOR DIVISION TWO
Wakehurst Strollers 6, Clough Rangers Athletic 1: Strollers started in emphatic fashion, taking the lead after just 28 seconds by closing down Clough’s kick off and Peter Adams coolly dispatched the opener from just inside the box when the ball fell in his path.
The lead was doubled on 11 minutes as the returning Corey Price marauded down the left hand side and waltzed through the Clough midfield unchallenged before firing in to the far corner.
Adams was then the beneficiary of a Clough defensive mix up and calamitous goalkeeping to tap home the Strollers’ third and his second on 28 minutes.
Clough pulled one back through Ross Steele when he latched on to a long punt upfield and slid the ball beyond Macauley Cairns to leave the score 3-1 at the interval.
Half-time substitute Ryan Armstrong took just four minutes of the second period to make an impact as he smashed a stinging drive past the goalkeeper from a Bradley Cairns lay off to claim his first ever career goal in the process.
Peter Adams then completed his hat trick on 74 minutes, flicking in a cross from the left before he was sent crashing by the goalkeeper on 82 minutes and Paul Gilchrist netted the resultant penalty to round off the scoring.
