Ballymena United Youth academy under 15 player Callum Ross has been selected to play for the Northern Ireland u19 LD (Learning Disability) football side.
Callum, who suffers from a mild form of dyslexia, attends Cambridge House Grammar school and has been at the Youth Academy since the age of 6, being a mainstay of the 2000 age group as a talented central defender.
The popular Ross family are well known amongst junior football circles in the town,
Callum’s elder brothers both play, and their younger sibling’s achievements are another proud day for the family and also for the United Youth Academy.
To make the squad at such a young age is testament to Callum’s football ability but also his positive attitude and outlook on life.
A squad of 17 travel to Newport in Wales this week to face the other home nations with five coaching staff.
They are led by ex Manchester United and Northern Ireland star Mal Donaghy and Ballymena boy Callum is looking forward to representing both his country and his home town.
