Jenkins will be in the Sky Blues squad for Saturday’s Danske Bank Premiership game against Glenavon at Mourneview Park looking to extend United’s ten match unbeaten run against the Lurgan Blues.

And the Scottish midfielder admits life is good at the minute.

“I said to the boss David Jeffrey that I am really enjoying my football at the minute.

“But that comes with winning football matches. It also makes the boat trip back to Scotland on Saturday evening more enjoyable.

“I have been at United about five years and it is great for the club to have beaten Cliftonville, Glentoran, Linfield and Crusaders at home this season.

“We are unbeaten for the last ten games and we want that run to continue - but it will not be easy at Glenavon,” he added.

Ballymena and Glenavon drew 3-3 earlier in the season and Jenkins expects another tough day at the office.

“They are a very good side and even when we went 3-0 up at the start of the season, they came charging back to earn themselves a 3-3 draw.

“That tells you loads about the character in their team and Mourneview is never an easy place to go to.

“But we are confident and we are looking forward to the encounter,” he added.

And Jenkins says there is a nice blend of youth and experience in the United team these days.

“Jim Ervin, Alan Blayney, Tony Kane, Gary Thompson and myself have experience and Cathair Friel, Johnny McMurray, Caolan Loughran and Kyle Owens are young and they have no fear.

“They have energy and Friel and McMurray must be a nightmare to play against.

“They are nonstop and they have ability as they have shown this season,” he added.
