Saturday’s win over Ballinamallard was United’s fifth in a row but the manager says he will still be letting some players go to make space for what he hopes will be quality signings.

“When I got the players together in pre-season and did the presentation, I told them that if things didn’t change, there would have to be changes.

“We’re in the exact same position as we were in last year, finishing seventh in the league and losing in a cup final, so changes will have to be made.

“We have our mind made up on quite a few but we need to see what we can do about getting people in first, more so than going out the door and that’s not an easy task.

“Brian McCaul and Gary McCutcheon have gone, Davy Munster is retiring and I’m not sure what Stuart Addis’ plans are, so some of the decisions will be very easy.

“There have been players who have been about the club for a long time but some of the players who have been here for a short time have done more than some of the longer-term players.

“If we have to make a decision, then they’re not going to be here any more.

“They will be told in the right way why they’re not going to be here but decisions and changes need to be made,” added Ferguson.
