Loan star Frazer hopes to build on impressive United debut

The 19-year-old’s first appearance was the sole positive to come out of the Sky Blues’ defeat against nine-man Coleraine on Friday night.

“It was a ‘derby’ and I was very excited beforehand because we thought we could get something from it,” Jonny told Times Sport.

“First half we were definitely the better team but Coleraine came out in the second half and hit us with a sucker punch which shocked us and then the second one went in.

“When they went down to nine men I thought we were going to get back into it but it just didn’t happen for us,

“We just seemed to pass it around, pass it around our final ball from everybody, including myself, just wasn’t there.

“It was nice to make my debut but I would have preferred to have got some points,” said Frazer, who hopes his Showgrounds stint can help him in his future career at parent club Linfield.

“I signed a new contract at the Blues before Christmas. I had been playing quite a bit off the bench and then the gaffer made a few signings in the transfer window.

“I knew Ballymena were keen but at the start of the window Linfield weren’t really keen to let me go but by the end of January, once they brought in a few more players, then David (Healy) thought it would be a good idea for me to go out and get some game time.

“Ballymena was the ideal destination for me because I’ve got Sammy McFadden here who I worked with at Linfield. I’ve been a Linfield fan my whole life so I know Glenn very well and there are few better people you could learn from.

“Last year I went out to Warrenpoint and did OK, not brilliant, but this season, especially since David has come in as manager, I think I’ve come on as a player and the next stage of my career is to come to Ballymena and try to make a name for myself.

“I want to do as well as I can, get us as high up the table as possible to give us a chance of qualifying for Europe,” he adds
