Local girls enjoy their First Kicks

FOURTEEN girls recently attended the First Kicks Soccer Academy at Ballymena North.

Organised in conjunction with Ballymena Borough Council’s Active Communities Programme and the Irish Football Association, the academy is targeted at 6–11 year old girls and aims to promote basic football and fundamental movement skills.

“The First Kicks Soccer Academy is based on allowing the young girls to come together in a structured environment where they will receive quality coaching from enthusiastic and qualified coaches.

“The emphasis is on fun and skill acquisition and the coaching sessions are centred on the girls developing fundamental skills, not just soccer skills”, said Sara Booth, IFA Women’s Domestic Football Manager.

The First Kicks Soccer Academy takes place every Tuesday at Ballymena North from 4-5pm. If you would like more information please contact Gary Boyd, Community Sport Development Officer on 028 2563 8510 or email [email protected]
