Michelin wrap up Glass Cup final spot

MICHELIN clinched their place as the District League's representatives in this season's Glass Cup final last week.

The Woodside Road side defeated second division Portglenone Community Centre 41-34 in last week's District League section final.

They now await the winners of the Churches Section final - featuring Glenwherry and First Ahoghill – which will be played at Killymurris Glarryford on March 29.

Michelin were in control of the first half of the District final as Wesley Caldwell skipped his four to a 17–10 win over the village rink skipped by Kevin O’Kane.

On the other mat the Michelin four skipped by Tom Lithco were under the cosh for the first few ends and although they only managed to win four of the regulation 10 ends, they emerged as 12–7 winners.

In the second series of games the Bannsiders put up a spirited performance as Joe McErlean’s rink got the better of Matthew Boyd’s four by 6–9.

The village side who again were in charge as their four skipped by Declan McCann led his charges to a 6–8 win over Grant Robinson’s rink.
