Mini Soccer League gets underway

Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League kicked off for its 15th season at the 3g facility at Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday.

Six teams from the P2 age group got proceedings underway with Carniny Youth, Northend Utd and Ballymena United Youth Academy each entering two teams playing in a league basis.

At the end of the day former league player Matthew Shevlin who is a current N.Ireland International at under 17 level and plays in the Irish League for Ballymena United handed out a participation medal to each competing child.

League Secretary Billy O’Flaherty commented: “The league has set the standard down through the years for the small sided format.

“We have learned from any mistakes and with our enthusiastic staff have further enhanced youth football in the Ballymena area.’

This Saturday the 23rd will see the P3 age group take place at the same venue with teams from Carniny Youth, Magherafelt Sky Blues, Star United, Northend United and Ballymena United Youth Academy play in the same league format. All teams to be there for 1.30pm.
