Nine-goal Homers cruise into Junior Cup final

Harryville Homers cantered into the Coca-Cola IFA Junior Cup final for the second year in a row on Monday night.

The Ballymena Saturday Morning League champions demolished Lisnarick 9-1 in a one-sided semi-final at Stangmore Park, Dungannon.

Gary Bonnes scored in the opening minute to open the floodgates as the Fermanagh side were swept away.

The skipper went on to complete his hat-trick, while Homers’ other goals came from David Nicholl (2), David Gibson (2), Alan Rainey and Paul McNeill.

Homers now await the winners of the other semi-final between Fermanagh side Lisbellaw and Windmill Stars from Newry, which takes place tonight (Tuesday).

The final will again take place at Mill Meadow, Castledawson, on Monday, May 5 - just 48 hours after the Ballymena United’s Irish Cup final against Glenavon in what promises to be a remarkable footballing weekend in the borough.
